About KPL

KPL ApS was officially established in 2024, but our journey began long before that. Our company is the culmination of years of dedicated research and development in sequencing grade proteases. We came together with a shared vision: to address the glaring need for innovation in this specialized field, which had seen little advancement in recent years. Recognizing the immense potential for breakthrough discoveries, we pooled our expertise and passion to develop our cutting-edge platform and technology. As we progressed, we realized that our innovative approach could extend beyond proteomics, allowing us to develop novel proteins for various industries and applications. Tanveer Singh Batth, PhD

Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer at KPL

Tanveer Singh Batth is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer at KPL. With over 15 years of experience in cutting-edge proteomics, he has keen insight into the protein applications market. His expertise spans chemical proteomics, post-translational modifications, cell signaling, and mass spectrometry applications across diverse biological systems. Tanveer has pioneered proteomic methods used worldwide and applied his skills to solve complex research questions in plant, microbial, and mammalian samples, resulting in numerous academic and industrial collaborations. His journey began at the Joint BioEnergy Institute at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory after earning his B.Sc. from UC Davis. He then pursued his Ph.D. at the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research, University of Copenhagen, under the supervision of ProfessorJesper V. Olsen, where he rose to Assistant Professor. Outside of work, Tanveer enjoys spending time with his family and playing basketball when the Danish weather allows it.

Cristina Hernandez Rollan, PhD

Co-Founder & Chief Technology Officer at KPL

Cristina Hernandez Rollan is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer at KPL, where she’s dedicated to pushing the boundaries of synthetic biology and protein expression systems. Her scientific journey has taken her across Europe, and she’s been passionate about every step. Cristina began her academic career in Spain with a Licenciatura in Biology, followed by a Master’s in Biotechnology from Iceland. She then pursued a Ph.D. in Synthetic Biology and Bioengineering at the Technical University of Denmark. During her Ph.D., Cristina focused on optimizing the production of challenging enzymes and developing synthetic biology tools for recombinant protein production, developing innovative synthetic biology tools to make protein expression more efficient. After earning her PhD, Cristina continued her research at the University of Copenhagen, where she focused on optimizing cell factories for better enzyme production. She then joined the prestigious lab of Professor Jesper V. Olsen, a leading expert in the field of proteomics, where she combined cutting-edge mass spectrometry with enzyme engineering. When she’s not in the lab, Cristina loves spending time in her garden and enjoying moments with her family, which keeps her grounded and inspired.

Jesper Velgaard Olsen, PhD

Academic Co-Founder & Scientific Advisor

Jesper Velgaard Olsen is an academic co-founder and SAB member at KPL. He is a Professor in Quantitative Proteomics at the University of Copenhagen and Vice Director of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Protein Research. Prof. Olsen is a pioneer in mass spectrometry (MS)-based proteomics and phosphoproteomics, MS technology developments and biomedical applications to decipher cell-signaling networks at a systems-wide scale. He is one of the most highly cited authors in the study of protein phosphorylation and its impact on biology. Prof. Olsen received his M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Southern Denmark under the supervision of Professor Roman Zubarev and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the same place under the supervision of Professor Matthias Mann. He completed his post-doctoral training in proteomics and cell signaling at the Max Planck Institute for Biochemistry in Munich. He joined the newly established Center for Protein Research in 2009, initially as a Group Leader, and has served as Vice Director since 2014..
